Day 27

Well, that cute pink cowboy hat that Sevrine wanted so badly on our trip last weekend has been sitting on her table since we got back. Granted, it is displayed a little proudly considering she's 4. :)

Day 26

Okay, these pictures aren't from yesterday, but they help to describe an even that happened yesterday. Sevrine and I were letting the dog outside while the parents were gone and Sevrine decided to follow him to see where he'd gone. Sevrine is normally really good about staying away from the pool if there's no one out there and she's normally only out for a minute because she knows she'll get in trouble. Yesterday she couldn't see where Rusty had gone and when she turned to run and check the other side of the yard for him she fell in the pool. I was just inside the door heading out to bring her back in when I heard the splash then the scream and crying. She was clinging to the edge of the pool at the shallow end. I didn't actually see her fall in, but from the way she described it she actually had to paddle herself to the wall a little. She can actually touch the bottom of the pool at that edge so she didn't actually go all the way under, but it was still really scary for both of us. So here are two pictures, the corner of the pool that she fell in at and the ballerina dress she was wearing when she fell in. She just kept telling me sorry for falling in, not sorry for being outside by herself when she knew she wasn't supposed to.

Day 25

Okay, sorry about the self-portrait, but it seems like this project is getting harder and harder to do. This is a picture I took with the webcam on my laptop on Friday night. Sadly I have no picture for Saturday, but I'll make sure that I take extras so I can post them. I know that's cheating, but maybe I'll get better at this and won't have to. :)

Day 24

Well, it seems like it keeps getting darker and darker, earlier and earlier. So i decided to show you what my drive home looks like.

Day 23

Being that today is Veteran's Day, I wanted to get some patriotic photo to post here. Truly, what I wanted was a back lit flag, but unfortunately I was unable to find one. My second choice was a dog tag I had made after we found out that Jeff was being recalled and would redeploy in December. In case you can't read the tag well, it says USAF - 12162009 - Jeff Glass. The 16th of next month is his deployment date, however, he'll be leaving Luke Air Force Base on 12/14 to report to his assigned training. I'll be wearing his official dog tags during his deployment, once he finally gets them that is.

Day 22

Okay, so to be honest this picture is not from yesterday. I did take pictures yesterday, however, they were of a damaged vehicle at work. So, rather than post a picture of a damaged car, I opted to post this.

There is just something about the feel and comfort of clean sheets. I've been doing the rounds of laundry and had just put clean sheets on my bed. Like I said, there's just nothing like the feel of clean sheets.

Day 21

Okay, once again not very artistic, but I always have to get a picture of Sevrine on her first day of school. In this case we were just changing schools, but I still had to get the picture. She looks a little grouchy in the photo, but she really was excited about school, she just didn't want me to take her picture.

Day 20

Well, today's picture has been a little bit harder to choose. I got some decent shots of some rock formations coming out of the canyon back into Superior, but I don't think that that is the picture that I like the most. Yes, it's probably the more artistic one, but this one means a little more I think. You've seen the evidence of Sevrine's interest in photography from when I was out of commission for 2 days. Well, I've been trying to promote that interest, hence the trip to Globe this weekend. There are not a lot of things that she and I can both do together that we both like doing (with the exception of coloring), so I'm really happy that she likes taking pictures. She already thinks she should be using my nicer camera instead of the point and shoot though. lol So, here is my favorite picture from today. :)

Day 19

Okay, we are posting from Globe, Arizona. We did get a few good pictures today, but not nearly as many as I had hoped for. Sevrine has been less than cooperative so far. One of the things I like about these mining towns is that if you can time things just right it almost looks as if the buildings have been suspended in time. So, here is one of the pictures I took that in the view finder didn't look like much, but turned out to be something much more (at least to me). lol

Day 18

Well, those of you who know me, know that I go a little bit nuts when I don't have my phone on me. I get a little bit jumpy and stressed out and will sometimes spend an entire lunch our just to drive home and get it. Well, now that I live in Peoria, this is not really an option. The drive is too far to do within an hour. I almost turned around to get it this morning but that would have made me far later than I would have been since I didn't realize I'd forgotten it until I was 10 minutes from home. Agghhhh! I kept forgetting what day it was and would go to look for my phone to check it not remembering that I didn't have it. Or, I wanted to map something and would go to turn on my navigation, and I would remember that my phone was sitting at home on my bed. Right where I left it in my mad rush to get us out of the house. Well, I am obviously much more content now that my phone is back in my hand. :)

Day 17

Okay, so in my room I have this cable thing that is supposedly required to make the wireless internet in our house work. There are also other such boxes in Sevrine's room. We all think it's kind of strange that the cable company put them in 2 different rooms, but this is what I see as I lay awake most nights as i don't sleep that well. lol

Day 16

I'm starting to realize and accept that this year's 365 project may just be a regular photo blog instead of the artistic masterpiece I was hoping for. :) I'm okay with that, but I guess I went into this a little bit too ambitious. It's hard enough for me to take pictures every day let alone really put the thought into them that I would like. It doesn't help that I've been a little bit off the last few days. So, I guess my aim now is not only to work on the quality of my pictures, but to take pictures that are applicable to what I'm doing and/or working on. So, in that spirit, my picture tonight is really a visual look into what Sevrine and I are doing this weekend. I've been wanted to go on a short trip with her for a while and wanted to go somewhere that we could take some cool pictures. So, we're heading to the Globe/Miami/Superior area of Arizona. All three are mining towns with lots of historic structures that I think will photograph really well. And, I want to see how some of them look in Black & White and maybe Sepia. :) So excited for this weekend. Hopefully we'll have some great pictures to share.

Day 15

Okay, so you may not know this, but I've spent the last few days with a sore tooth. A botched root canal got infected and I've been in a good deal of pain since Saturday. So I've spent a lot of time in a dark room sleeping. Since my camera has this cool night vision feature, I thought that I would put it to the test to see how good it did in pitch black conditions. So, here it is. :) Oh yeah, this is my cabbage patch kid "Nora" that I've had forever. Sevrine claims her now, but she gave her to me to sleep with last night because I wasn't feeling good. Gotta love my girl.

Day 14

Okay, another of the Sevrine pics. This one is of her feet because with all of the shots of the TV, you could actually tell she tried to put some thought into it.

Day 13

Well, I was pretty much out of commission for the past few days so didn't take a single picture until today. Lucky for me, Sevrine has been quite busy with my camera so my project could stay current. :) Gotta love that my 4 year old knows exactly how to turn on and operate my camera as well has use the viewing options. lol She took a lot of pictures of the TV a few of her feet and a few of her messy playroom. Today's will have to be one of the messy playroom.

Day 12

I really need to sit down and fiddle with setting more often. I took some cute shots of Sevrine at the Irish Festival, but nothing "artistic". I did use the action setting and got a good shot of her jumping in the bounce house though. That will be my post for today and the other shots will be in my normal blog and probably Facebook. :) Enjoy.

Day 11

Okay, I'm going to stop feeling guilty of posting pictures of my kid. lol Today was her Halloween party at school and she got to wear her costume to school. I didn't let her take her nice costume, but instead bought her a cheaper costume that I wouldn't care if it got messed up at school (and it did). She tried really hard to keep it nice today, asking for toast, dry cereal, and a sippy cup of milk instead of her normal lidless cup so she wouldn't risk spilling on her costume, but she ended up kneeling on it and ripping it form the inside. Oh well, that's why it's the back up. She did have fun today tough. I stopped by her school to see if I could get some pictures of her during her "party" but they were starting a little late and the kids had just gotten up form their nap, so Sevrine still looked really tired, and was wearing her change of clothes so she wouldn't ruin her costume. Double bonus of the day was that she had no time-outs at school. :)

Day 10

I keep telling myself that I'm going to use less pictures of Sevrine since it seems that most of the pictures for this project have been of her, but since tonight was the Ward Halloween Party, I will have to begin that resolution another time. She was so excited today to be able to wear her Halloween costume and tiara finally. I had to hide the dress so she wouldn't try and put it on. I think that she forgot she had it. So, here is a picture of her dressed up for the night as a Ballerina / Princess. And as you can tell she is en pointe as well so totally in character.

Day 9

I really thought that it would take me much longer to get a picture of Sevrine sucking her thumb, but as we sat down to watch a movie tonight before bed, she curled up on the couch and stuck her thumb in her mouth. I know that I shouldn't let her suck her thumb much longer, but it's so cute. lol I love the way she curls her fingers around the tip of her nose. She's been doing this since she was only a few days old since we could never get her to take a pacifier.

Day 8

I'm not a huge fan of self-portraits, but I hardly ever take pictures of myself. So, tonight I decided that Sevrine and I would get a picture together. I'll try and keep the self-portraits to a minimum though. lol

Day 7

I was so bummed when I left work that I had accidentally left my nice camera there. :( Not that my point and shoot is bad, but it's not my nice one. lol We got out of there early enough for the sky to still be pretty and not too dark like most nights. One of the things I dislike about winter is that it gets dark so much earlier and you miss out on some great photo opportunities because you're stuck in the car. Sevrine was yelling at me to play her "Narnia" song while I was trying to navigate through traffic and as I was looking at the sky going "am I going to make it home in enough time to still capture the colors?". Well, I decided to get creative and rolled down my window and snapped a quick pic to see what I would get. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. I had no idea that the colors would actually translate at 50mph on the freeway with my arm out the window. So happy this turned out halfway decent. :)

Day 6

Okay, so I hadn't thought too much about today's photo this morning and later on in the day I was thinking about how cute it is when Sevrine is tired, she sucks her thumb. I know that doesn't sound that cute, but it's the way she has her hand in a fist with her index finger curled around the tip of her nose. I purposefully let her watch a movie in my room before bed, and even let her stay up late hoping that she would call asleep or at least suck her thumb. No such luck. Oh well. I vow that at some point I will have that picture. For now, it's just a cute picture of Sevrine snuggled up watching a movie in my room.

Day 5

Okay, today Sevrine had pictures done by Sara Carroll Images. Sara was awesome and so patient with my 4 year old Tornado. lol I kind of wanted to capture the day without stepping into her territory, so got a couple of pictures of Sara capturing Sevrine's personality. I can't wait to see her pictures!

Day 4 - Ammunition

When I woke up this morning I didn't really have any ideas on what I would photograph for today, but at the end of the day it came to me. The shop has been a little slow so we have more down-time than normal lately. So, to fill this down-time, we prank each other, debate or whatever else we can think of. Off and on for a while we've had these squish balls brought to us by a vendor, but over time that number has dwindled down to 1. There is only one ball left and one of our estimators decided to use wadded up paper in retaliation. I decided today that they weren't aerodynamic enough to be that accurate so decided to cover them in painters tape to give them a little more weight and less drag. lol We ended up having a minor war today with the tape balls and the 1 squish ball been lobbed back and forth across the room. There were a lot of misses and a few well-aimed shots. All in all, it made a slow day go by a little quicker and a lot more pleasant.

Day 3

Sevrine always have the cutest expression on her face when I pick her up from school. It's like she hasn't seen me in forever and she's just so excited that I'm there. I've always wanted to capture that look. Admittedly, this still needs some work because I forgot my nice camera and forgot to change it to an action setting, so the shutter speed is probably a little too slow. So today you get two pictures. One is a blur as she runs toward me and the other is after she reaches me. You can expect a repeat of this subject. lol I vow that I will capture that look and have it not be blurry. :)

Day 2

Okay, Day 2's pic is going to seem like a cop out, and it kind of is, but there is also an explanation to it. Sevrine is having pictures taken for her Comp Card on Saturday and the Agency wants the pictures done with hair and age appropriate makeup. Well, Sevrine and I went to buy her "makeup" tonight and she was so excited about it that she made me put it on her, even though she would have to take it off 15 minutes later. So even though it barely looks like she has anything on it covers the pen and licorice stains on her face. lol So she is ready for her pictures on Saturday, at least after we have her hair done and hair-sprayed to the point of being a fire hazard. lol

Day 1

Okay, it was looking like I wasn't going to make it on the first day, or do some no thought lame self portrait, but as I was driving home watching the sky change colors, I knew that I wanted something outdoors. I had my camera out of the case before I even got out of the car and started lining up the shot. The street lamp was giving off too much light to give me a good shot from my driveway so I ended up standing in the street. Then I couldn't hold still enough to get the shot so I had to go inside and borrow a tall tripod from my Dad. That did the trick. Even then I had to take a couple of shots to get the one I wanted, but for Day 1 I'm pretty happy right now. :) The best part about it is that I got to mess with some of the non-auto settings on my camera. I'm hoping by the end of the year I'll have learned a lot and be a much better photographer. See you tomorrow!
